Introduction to drugs Credit Value: 3
FASA’s level 1 course ‘Introduction to drug awareness’ is an entry level qualification which provides learners with basic knowledge around drugs and substances. It consists of 6 X 1 Hourly sessions which look at:
- What is a drug?
- What drugs are out there?
- The 4 categories of drugs.
- The law around drugs.
- The stages of drug use.
- Prevention / Harm reduction.
The level 1 course is extremely interactive and is very popular with youth groups looking for accredited drugs training, the course is usually delivered in 6 x 1hour sessions.

Level 2
Drugs & Substances Credit Value: 8
FASA’s level 2 course ‘Drugs & Substances Credit Value: 8 consists of 3 units which cover:
- Factual Information on drugs (legal & illicit)
- Attitudes and Values (on drugs and users)
- Drugs and the community.
FASA’s level 2 course is our most popular programme; it consists of the 3 units listed above and is seen by many as the must have qualification in community lead drug awareness/education. You must have completed this programme to access the ‘Understanding Addiction’ course.

Level 3
Understanding Addiction Credit Value: 12
This course is mainly for practitioners and has been developed to explain the process of addiction both physically and psychologically. The course is made up of three Units:
- Effects of drugs on the human brain and body
- Treatments for drug users
- Key skills in working with drug users
This course looks in depth at addiction and it is an entry requirement that participants have completed FASA’s Level 2 course. The level 3 course is delivered over 12 weeks and each session lasts for 3 hrs each week.
