WHY? - We are Here for You
In response to an upsurge in the number of suicides in Northern Ireland, leading local suicide and substance abuse charity FASA launched a WHY? Campaign throughout December 2010. This campaign came about through our work with families and the SAFE Together Group. The primary objective of the campaign was to highlight the plight of those left behind after suicide.
- Often the reality for family and friends bereaved by suicide is they are left asking the question WHY?
- In many cases there is no obvious reason for their loved one taking their own life..
- It was hoped that the WHY? campaign would encourage anyone feeling despair or experiencing suicidal thoughts to contact one of a list of support agencies available to offer help
- On the run-up to the festive season, pressures and memories force many people into a dark and lonely place, organisations such as FASA are always there to listen, support and help.
The ‘WHY?’ campaign consisted of up to 100 billboard posters across Belfast, North Down and Ards offering contact information for FASA and other agencies who offer help, as well as the promotion of a ‘WHY?’ pin badge which was used to help raise funds for the charity.
If you need to speak with someone! Contact FASA on 02890 803040 or 24 hour support is available through Lifeline on 0800 808 800.
